The Galerie Troisdorf is the modern shopping centre in the heart of Troisdorf’s inner city and a central destination for shopping, dining and everyday purchases. Since its opening in November 2013 it has elegantly combined retail with high-quality urban space. Its striking natural-stone façade and large glass fronts make it an eye-catcher and create an important north-south passage between Wilhelm-Hamacher-Platz and the neighbouring Kaufland hypermarket as well as the cinema. Visitors find fashion, drugstore products, optics, flowers and a range of gastronomic options under one roof. The centre is ideal for anyone who wants to shop conveniently and centrally without travelling long distances in the Rhine-Sieg region. It perfectly complements the pedestrian zone and invites a relaxed stroll that can easily be rounded off with coffee or ice cream. Thanks to its direct links to public transport and its own underground car park, it is a practical and rewarding destination for both locals and day visitors from Cologne, Bonn or Siegburg.

History of Galerie Troisdorf

The history of Galerie Troisdorf is closely linked to the urban development of Troisdorf’s city centre. For a long time the old civic centre (Bürgerhaus) stood on this central site between Wilhelm-Hamacher-Platz and Am Bürgerhaus street. As part of the integrated inner-city action concept it was decided to revitalise the location and develop the previously bipolar character of the pedestrian zone into a three-pole shopping focus. After extensive planning and a Europe-wide investor competition the project was approved. Demolition of the Bürgerhaus began in April 2012 and the actual construction phase started. Building work lasted until November 2013. On 7 November 2013 the gallery was officially opened. The investor, the Hamburg-based HBB Hanseatische Betreuungs- und Beteiligungsgesellschaft, invested around 30 million euros in the new building. A particular engineering achievement was the preservation and modernisation of the existing underground car park despite the demolition of the superstructures, creating more than 350 comfortable parking spaces. The leasable area amounts to approximately 8,000 to 9,000 square metres and accommodates around 18 to 20 shops and service providers. The architecture was designed by RKW Architektur + and is characterised by modern forms, natural stone and large glass surfaces that deliberately stand out from the typical brick façades of the surrounding area. In subsequent years the tenant mix changed, including the departure of Saturn and temporary uncertainty regarding C&A. Since 2025, however, the gallery has stabilised significantly: C&A and Müller drugstore extended their leases long-term, New Yorker returned, and a fitness studio (VIVA Fitness) as well as further retailers moved in. Today the gallery presents itself as a vital shopping location with a clear future perspective and ongoing investments in infrastructure and the parking concept.

Highlights of Galerie Troisdorf

Among the main highlights of Galerie Troisdorf are the strong anchor tenants and the pleasant atmosphere of the bright arcade. C&A offers fashion for the whole family at fair prices and is a central destination for everyday and trend clothing. New Yorker complements the fashion offer with current streetwear and youth trends and has returned to the location after a break. The Müller drugstore impresses with a wide range of care products, perfume, stationery, toys and household goods and invites a relaxed browse. For daily needs and larger purchases the direct connection to the Kaufland hypermarket is ideal. Culinary options include Café Fritz (also known as Frittz) with coffee, bistro and restaurant offerings, the Eiscafe La Piazza and Asia Hung. Further providers such as Flowerking for flowers and gifts, Smile Optic for glasses as well as hairdressers and other services complete the range. A recent addition is VIVA Fitness with a modern fitness studio that is partly open around the clock and attracts additional target groups. The arcade itself is designed on one level and is largely barrier-free, making the stay particularly pleasant. The large glass fronts ensure plenty of daylight and the modern architecture creates a friendly, open atmosphere. Regular promotions and offers from the shops make every visit interesting. The adjoining underground car park with more than 350 spaces, including designated women’s and disabled parking spaces, greatly facilitates visits. Overall the gallery offers a balanced mix of sectors that sensibly complements the existing retail in the pedestrian zone and enables both practical and leisure-oriented shopping.
