History of Kunsthaus Troisdorf

The Kunsthaus Troisdorf developed as a municipal facility to promote the independent art and music scene. Since its establishment it has provided more than 1,000 square metres of studios for visual artists and musicians. The municipal gallery on the ground floor, covering almost 200 square metres, created for the first time a prominent exhibition space for contemporary art in Troisdorf and simultaneously serves as a concert and event hall. Six to eight exhibitions per year are planned, including group and thematic shows as well as an annual art fair. The house places strong emphasis on art education, dialogue with the public and cooperation with schools and youth work. In the series “Ateliergespräche” the artists working in the house regularly exchange ideas with interested visitors. Another central concern is cooperation with companies in the region in order to mediate art projects and develop innovative funding concepts. The building was recently remodelled to create more light and space for the artists. Today the Kunsthaus is an established centre for experimental and classical music, exhibitions and cultural encounters.

Highlights of Kunsthaus Troisdorf

Highlights of the Kunsthaus Troisdorf include the changing exhibitions in the municipal gallery, which present regional, national and international positions of contemporary art. Thematic exhibitions such as “Papier” or “Flächenrauschen” explore materials and spatial relationships in painting, graphic art and sculpture. The AtelierGalerie gives insight into the current production of the artists working in the house and presents “work in progress”. Concerts and festivals such as the Experimentale for experimental music, jazz sessions and chamber music evenings enrich the programme. The Open Scene on the fourth Friday of the month offers musicians an open stage. Workshops, lectures and panel discussions complete the offer. The house is home to artists such as Frank Baquet, Jette Jertz, Marc Kirschvink and others as well as musicians and band projects.
