Königsplatz

Königsplatz
Königsplatz, 80333 München

Königsplatz was laid out in the 19th century under King Ludwig I, designed by Leo von Klenze as a monumental square inspired by ancient Greece. It is framed by the gate-like Propyläen, the Glyptothek (a collection of ancient sculpture) and the State Antiquities Collections. Misused as a Nazi parade ground and paved over in the 1930s, its lawn has been restored since the post-war period.
