Alter Hof

Alter Hof was, from the 13th century, the first castle complex of the Wittelsbach dynasty in Munich, before the court moved to the newly built Residenz in the 16th century. Notable is the so-called "Monkey Tower" with its oriel window, named according to legend after a tame monkey that once saved young Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian from falling out of the window.
